Coaching, Commentating and Changing the Conversation

Let’s talk about a woman who’s doing it all:- On the sidelines, behind the mic and in every conversation that matters.

Her name is Emma Hayes, and if you don’t already know her, you’re about to. Emma is a legendary football (soccer!) coach who led Chelsea Women’s FC to victory after victory and is now stepping into the global spotlight in a brand-new role: head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team. Oh and did I mention she’s also crushing it as a commentator and voice for women in sports?

Emma’s not just breaking barriers. She’s redefining leadership in a space that hasn’t always welcomed women, especially outspoken ones. She’s known for her tactical genius but also for being real. She talks openly about the challenges women face in sports and life and she’s not afraid to shake things up.

And here’s the thing: Emma’s story shows us what happens when women are given the opportunity to rise. She’s proof that success isn’t about luck but it’s about access, support and being seen.

But not every girl gets that chance. Right now, millions of girls around the world are still missing school, sports and leadership opportunities because of something as basic as period poverty. That means they don’t have access to pads, clean bathrooms or even the freedom to talk about their periods without shame.

Let’s be real: how many future coaches, commentators or champions are we losing just because girls can’t manage their periods safely and with dignity? That’s not okay. If we want to see more Emma Hayeses out there, leading teams, owning rooms and changing the conversation, we have to make sure every girl can go to school, play sports and chase her goals without periods holding her back.

So this post isn’t just about celebrating Emma (although she totally deserves it), it’s also a reminder that we have work to do. We need to talk about period poverty, raise awareness and take action because when girls are supported with the basics, there’s no limit to what they can do.

Thank you, Emma, for coaching the next generation in more ways than one. Let’s keep the conversation going and make sure it includes every girl.
